Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no fruit; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no meat in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3:17-18.
Expressing gratitude to God in the midst of adversity has never been a pleasant thing to do by anyone. This is even more so when one has experienced or is still experiencing loss of job or loss of something or someone precious to you. It could be a failure in a particular assignment, marital challenge, financial struggle, barrenness, be it physical, mental, or spiritual.
Dryness of any kind or a deteriorating health. These are real-life issues that people are confronted with on a daily basis. Let’s face it, in most cases; it is not easy to hold our head high and be conscious of the fact that whatever we are passing through is not strange to God and that he is able to save us even during our trying moments. It takes a heart that has the deepest understanding of the awesomeness of God to be able to express gratitude to God while experiencing adversity in marriage, for example. While wise people give praise to God regardless of their circumstances, the unwise women keep score with God and will not provide praises to him when things are not going as planned in her family. However, a woman of faith, who has a deep knowledge of spiritual times and seasons, will appreciate God even when her marriage is passing through a trying period knowing fully well that adversity, as it were, is not intended to kill us, but designed to bring out the best in us. We are admonished in 1st Thessalonians 5:18 to give thanks in everything, for it is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus.
Precious mothers and sisters, give thanks to God even if the situation you find yourself in is not palatable or doesn’t call for such a sense of gratitude. Remember that His thoughts towards you are of peace and not evil to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). Don’t allow the devil to turn your back on the one who can make you complete in him. Our God is greater than what you may be passing through right now. Put your hope in him, and your days of mourning shall soon be over! I pray that God will strengthen you so that you will be able to put on the garment of praise in every situation of your life in Jesus’ name. Remember that after genuine, heartfelt praise comes victory.
Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God, and the Bible records that God came down to bring about their desired miracle for all to witness (Acts 16:25-26). Our Lord Jesus Christ gave thanks to God at the tomb of Lazarus, and he that had been dead for four days was raised back to life immediately (John 11:41-44). Why not ignore all the physical but temporary evidence that the enemy has been using to puncture your faith and praise God for once without holding back! Rest assured that your victory is on the way.
Keep praising God! Hallelujah!!!
