There are no human angels anywhere, neither are there perfect human beings in this world. We are all on the journey to perfection. So don’t expect to meet angels in your quest to search for a suitable suitor. Nevertheless, there are still some essential qualities that one should look out for in a godly man, which l will be sharing below:
1) Questions around his faith – What does he stand for? Is he a genuine born-again Christian? This is non-negotiable! Why? It will help both of you to move faster in life and will also enhance your chances of entering the kingdom of God.
2)What are his goals and aspirations in life? He must be a man with a clear vision and dream of
where he’s heading to. His life goals and aspirations must be compelling enough so as to
not create any shadow of doubt in you. The goals and aspirations must also be time-bound in terms of accomplishments. This is one of the ways of separating the boys from the men.
3) How does he see himself? He must not be a man of low self-esteem. He must be a man who has proper knowledge of his identity. He must have embarked on a personal self journey before proposing the hand of a woman in marriage. He must be confident in himself and comfortable in his skin.
4) What about his attitude, especially when he’s wrong? He must be a man who gives and takes correction in love. He must always have the interest of his spouse as a priority and be willing to admit his wrongdoing.
5) What about his attitude to work? He must be a hard-working man who can provide for his household.
6) What about questions around his integrity? He must be a man of his word, a man that changes his word often is untrustworthy and cannot be relied upon.
7) What about his love life? Hurting people always hurt other people. Is he a whole and complete man who is not nursing any personal grudges? Is he able to love and care for you? Is he able and willing to defend and protect you and the children during crucial times of need?
8) What about his attitude to the kingdom of God? He must be a man who loves the kingdom
service. Serving God must be his lifestyle. He must not be such that will require persuasion or coercion to serve God.
9) How is he able to manage his temper? He must not be a man with a bad temper; he must not be a person who gets angry easily. Bad temper can do havoc in a home more quickly than
anything else.
10) What about the question of his fidelity? He must not be a drinker, womanizer, or smoker. If you discover this in a brother’s life, you don’t have to wait for a pastor to come and tell you that he is not the best choice for you. It will only take God’s intervention for him to overcome all that. But you are not the savior that will solve that problem in his life if you discover such, please stay away from such a brother as far as you can.
He is a pretender and not a child of God.
