We all look forward to becoming true to our very best selves! While we have role models that we aspire to become like, the ultimate is becoming our authentic best self. To live an authentic life worthy of emulation, you need a mentor to look up to. Because the kind of person you are following will determine who you will become. As a single lady, if you follow people who can not self-govern themselves and are not capable of keeping a home, you will become like them. If, on the other hand, all the women you are studying and promising yourself to become like are living a Christ-like life, then I can assure you that you will become one of the generations of Deborah. This will mean that you will become fearless of the intimidation that our patriarchal society has subjected women to. This is the time for intentional living and self-development for your overall progress.
This is a difficult time you are living in as a single lady. Hence, you need to equip yourself with the proper nourishment because what you store in your heart determines the picture of the home you will likely get in the future.
I have come to realize that so many sisters are still ignorant of the kind of ingredients that makes good marriages. So they don’t think that it is essential for them to acquire knowledge before they get into marriage. As the brother you are getting married to is striving to know how to build godly homes so also you have to grow your mind to learn the tips that can help you and occasionally provide growth support for your would-be partner.
If you desire to grow up and become like one of the celebrities whose public life is a far cry from their private life, you have nothing to worry about because your marriage may be headed in the same direction. But if you dream of becoming a mother and wife described in Proverbs 31, you’ve got to take this time of your singleness very seriously.
A godly home is not built after the marriage ceremony; the journey starts from the period of singleness which gradually, with time, becomes your reality. So don’t waste your time but put your head straight on what the future holds for you.
I pray you will grow to become a woman after God’s heart in Jesus’ name. Amen.
