Her Type

“Oh my goodness, Infinix Hot 20 is out! I must get it; it’s exactly my type. It has all the features I want in a phone.” A year later: “What? Infinix Note 12 is out? I heard the camera is awesome, and it has more space than its predecessor. That space can accommodate all my pictures and novels. I need to get it.”

This is exactly what happens to most ladies whose types of men never go beyond Tall, Dark, and Handsome (TDH, as we often call them). The attraction fades away with time because it is fickle. Why? Every shiny new thing becomes old. Should this be the only reason why you should say “yes” to that man? Aside from being tall, dark, and handsome, what else can he deliver? What value can he add to your life? Will his height, complexion, and handsomeness rub off on you, Miss Short, Light and Beautiful?

The Bible says in Genesis 2:18-23 that it is not good for a man to be alone. Did any part of that passage tell us Adam had a type or even tell God of his type? No! God just caused a great sleep to befall Adam, and he fashioned the best woman for Adam (without his consent or opinion). When Adam saw Eve, what did he say? He said, “This is now the bone of my bone and the flesh of my flesh… (Genesis 2:23a)” That was the end.

Now, I’m not saying it isn’t good to have a type or something like that. Come on; we are human. It’s just that so many ladies have gone astray and become chinas on the shelf because every man who walks up to them isn’t their type. Let us ask ourselves this question: “if everyone marries their type, will I be somebody’s type?”

Goodness gracious, some ladies’ types are aliens because they don’t exist. “I want a man who is tall, dark, muscular with abs, handsome, can sing, can play the guitar, has a dimple, has a good job, is raking in millions, has a house and car before the age of 30.” What you need is a complete child of God, not a striving human like you. Many ladies have missed it because of this insignificant thing they have made so important. Why don’t you trust God to fashion for you a man who would be perfect for you?

A servant found Rebecca for Isaac. Isaac did not give this servant a list of what he wanted in a woman, did he? No! This man merely trusted God to direct his path and order his steps to the right woman, and God did. Why not make a declaration to God today? Why not let go of those preconceived notions of yours about a dream man and just trust God to make it happen? You know, a lot of ladies will pray to God about a man who is not their “type” but will miss God’s words because they have shut off their hearts, with the excuse that at least, “he’s not my type.”

Every lady is guilty of this. Take a stance today to be better and look at life through the eyes of God.
